Alyssa Tess

Born and raised in the Georgian Bay area, Alyssa Tess is an emerging indie-pop singer/songwriter. Deeply inspired by the wide spectrum of human emotions, Alyssa’s sweet voice, reflective stories, and her earnest writing has garnered recognition over the past 10 years. With a musical sound that flourishes from pop, folk, jazz, and singer/songwriter genres, Alyssa shares genuine emotions through heartfelt, catchy, original melodies.

Alyssa Tess fell in love with performing at the age of 7, after being selected as a finalist in a local singing competition in Midland, ON, Canada. Using her piano skills and self-taught guitar chops, Alyssa began writing original songs by the time she was 10 years old. Through Stellula Music In Schools Program, young Alyssa got to workshop her early originals with some of Canada’s up and coming musicians, such as The Good Lovelies. These early experiences taught Alyssa that her music was her gift to be shared with others.

Alyssa has spent years honing her performance skills working as a street performer near her hometown, performing at several local festivals such as the Midland Buttertart Festival (Midland, ON), Kempenfest Festival and Promenade Days (Barrie, ON). She’s played at many local cafes, restaurants, bars, resorts and performance venues throughout the Georgian Bay area, Toronto, and the GTA. The Midland Cultural Centre (Midland, ON), The Ranch Bar (Barrie, ON) and Toronto’s The Axis Club (formerly known as The Mod Club) have been a few of Alyssa’s favourite performance venues. Alyssa has been the featured musical entertainment on Rogers Cable TV shows and in tourism promotion videos for the town of Midland. In February of 2018, Alyssa played her first international gig at the Millenium Music Conference in Harrisburg, PA, USA, as a showcase artist on two nights. Following that, Alyssa was selected as a showcase artist for Canadian Music Week (Toronto, ON) in 2019 and 2021.  Alyssa graduated from Humber College’s music program with a BA of Music in Voice. At Humber, she studied with many of Canada’s renowned musicians.

Alyssa released her debut EP “Twenty/Twenty” in October 2017. At a Mariposa Folk Foundation workshop, Alyssa played her original, “Missing You”, to Canadian songwriter Serena Ryder, who likened Alyssa’s voice to an angel and said her guitar playing was “rad”.

Alyssa released her recent EP "Sweet Goodbye" in August 2023.
